The size of awning needed to fit any particular caravan depends on the measurement in centimetres from the ground around the awning rail and back to the ground (often referred to as the ‘A’ measurement). This can be easily measured as per the simple diagram below:

In recent years caravan manufacturers have mostly made life easier for us all and they quote the ground to ground or A measurements in their brochures or on their websites. This video below is a handy demonstration of how to measure the A measurement by hand:

There are two things you need to check to ensure a porch awning will fit your caravan:

Firstly, that the height from the ground (H) to the awning rail meets the height limit of the porch awning you are looking at. Note: this may be slightly lower than the quoted caravan height in your specs as this number often includes the roof-light and TV aerial.

Secondly, that the flat section of the awning rail on your caravan (L)  is long enough to accommodate the length of awning.

Also it is worth considering checking on your caravan where the porch will fit and see if the sides might interfere with any windows, doors or hatches etc that you may want to have open once the porch is erected.
